Emerging Artist's - Jordan Allen to perform at Kulak's Woodshed on July 26th!

Hello everyone...

We are performing at Kulak's Woodshed! It is a live acoustic music, singer songwriter listening room and pioneering multi-camera webcast recording studio. A Labor of Love created by Paul Kulak in November, 1999 operated by volunteers and funded by audience donations.

They serve no food or alcohol. The artists who perform there range from emerging independent talents to number one hit writers and Grammy winners.

It has a "living room" feel and is perfect to sit and listen to music. Coffee and tea is available ($1 donation) and parking is an absolute cinch.

I will be joined by some really talented musicians on this night, and I cannot express how magnificent this venue really is for all of us.

*Suggested donation is $5...this goes completely to support the work that Kulak's Woodshed does for independent musicians.

We hope you will join us...

Sincerely,

Jordan Allen, Kenwood Anderson, Keith Eaddy, Nancy Lawrence and
Jim Burt

Jacob Magnuson Receives Magnificent Review!!!

Forgive us if this is a little bit dated, but we have just come across this review.

Jacob Magnuson, star of "Honey, I'm Home" is also coming off his role as "Ed" in the theater production of Joe Salazar's "Free Bird" which concluded in May.

Debi Hall of Notes From Hollywood had this to say of Jacob.

"And where did he find Jacob Magnuson? What a diamond in the rough this superstar was!"

and she goes into more detail...

"Jacob Magnuson was stunning as Ed. He created relationships with the other characters that superceded a suspension of disbelief. It was clear to everyone in the audience that he was deeply committed to this role and performed it with heart and integrity. I believed every word he said and cared deeply about his life. His passion for Joe’s script filled everyone with tears by the end of the performance. It’s clear blue skies for Jacob as he climbs the ladder of success."

Early Press on "Honey" from Cinema Crazed!!!

Let us thank Felix Vasquez, Jr.and his sensational film site, Cinema Crazed for rolling out some early press on "Honey, I'm Home"

Here's a snippet of the write-up...

"From the gist, "Honey I'm Home" involves a man whose wife may or may not know that he's cheating on her, and from there, it gets awfully hazy. Director Branin is intent on keeping this project's details a mystery, which draws the interest of us at Cinema Crazed."

Here is the direct link - We Go Inside Honey I'm Home

Honey I’m Home to Premiere at HollyShorts Film Festival on August 12th!!!

We are tremendously excited to report that "Honey I'm Home," our brand new short film was accepted into this year's HollyShorts Film Festival. It was the first festival we submitted it to, and it becomes our first Official Selection.

Honey I'm Home is written and directed by David Branin while being shot and edited by Vincent Martinez of Def Films. It stars Jacob Magnuson and Karen Worden. "Shoot-Out" composer Rudy Mangual reunites with Branin to complete the original musical score.

This film tackles the topic of being unfaithful and having to confess the truth to one's companion. Never before has infidelity been explored in the way that Branin does in this five minute masterpiece.

Honey I'm Home will make it's World Premiere at the HollyShorts Film Festival on Sunday August 12th at the CineSpace Digital Superclub located on Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California.

More about the festival:

The opening night Hollywood premiere of Adrian Grenier's ("Entourage") acclaimed short film "Euthanasia" will take place at Nacional in Hollywood on Friday, August 10.

The film festival and panels take place at Cinespace Digital Superclub August 11-12.

"We are thrilled to be back in Hollywood to showcase 60 of the best and brightest short films from around the globe," said Daniel Sol, HollyShorts Film Festival Director. "This year's festival will feature an action packed schedule of short film screenings, industry panels, networking events and receptions; it's an honor to bring the industry and the next generation of great filmmakers together for three days."

HollyShorts received over 500 submission for this years festival. Along with a strong domestic presence, the 3rd annual HollyShorts Film Festival will feature a slew of shorts from the international community, with films from Australia, Brazil, India, Mexico, Romania, Spain and Singapore.

13 selections are in competition for the Best Student Short Film category. HollyShorts has chosen student projects from: The School of Visual Arts in New York, Ringling College of Art and Design in Florida, AFI, NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, Ohio University School of Film, BYU, Columbia University, Temple University, University of North Carolina at Wilmington and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, University of Miami, and USC.

New Controversial DareJunkie Video Online!

Latest Dream Regime DareJunkie Video is now online. We are big fans of the darejunkie site...although this time around we took a different approach and decided to rant about some of the other videos on the site. This video is already being met with resistance and is ruffling some feathers.

Bodywash Spoof is a Grand Prize Winner on Darejunkies

Thank you. For the second month in a row, one of our projects has finished in the Top 3 in the latest Darejunkies competition. With everyone's late voting surge, you were able to propel our "Bodywash Spoof" into a 2nd place overall finish. Awesome!

Your effort helps us tuck away a little more money towards our upcoming first feature film. A project that we are very excited about, and we believe you will be as well.

More on "Bodywash Spoof" - This little video has been seen millions of times, duplicated, and reposted on site after site across the internet. It stars Melanie Specht and Daniel Sol with David Branin operating behind the scenes. It is based on the bodywash ad where a man's girlfriend asks him, "So, which of my friends would you sleep with?" In the ad, the man ignores the question and not answer. In our version, the boyfriend answers the question and then some. Do not click on this if you are easily offended.

We are now at it again, entering our "Bodywash Spoof" which is based on a bodywash ad that you may remember.

If you have never seen this one, you are going to want to click on it right away.  It stars Melanie Specht and Daniel Sol, with David Branin operating behind the scenes.

We are getting a lot of love from http://www.speedballing.pl/ which is a Polish Streetball website.  Our man Arek has provided an amazing review of "Shoot-Out" making streetball fans in Poland and throughout the world (we've been hit up ballers from Poland and Hungary) aware of our award winning, critically acclaimed independent hoops drama.

We love the press.  Big ups to Arek and Londer who run the site.  They tell us to look out for an english version of the site down the line.

The Bad:  We must apologize to our fans in Austin, TX who were geared up to see "Shoot-Out" on the big screen during the upcoming 28th Flicker Film Festival.  We have been informed that "Shoot-Out" has been removed from the schedule and will not screen.  Our deepest apologies.  Not sure when "Shoot-Out" will be back in the area.  Please monitor our page for the latest news.

The Good:  The committee made "Shoot-Out" an official selection.  Flicker is a festival that only accepts films made on film, somehow we did not catch that and submitted "Shoot-Out" anyway.  With it's beautiful cinematography, "Shoot-Out" fooled the committee, they accepted the film believing it was shot on film.  It wasn't until later they realized that it was shot on digital.  Big ups to our cinematographer Ivan Vatez Rodriguez!

Our next screening will now be held November 14th in Los Angeles in coordinatiion with the Hollywood Black Film Festival.  Scroll down in our blog or see our screenings section for further details.

2500 Views for "Shoot-Out"

Thank you to all who are supporting our work, writing your comments and buying "Shoot-Out"

"Shoot-Out" is Headline News for ElevationMag.com!!!

We have received amazing coverage from www.elevationmag.com. "Shoot-Out" is currently on the front page in the Headline News - Around the Street Section.

Inside there is an awesome review written by our man Mark Slane. We are thrilled with the coverage and cannot thank Mark enough. He is writing from the perspective of a basketball fan. It's easy as a basketball fan to see a basketball movie and come away disappointed. We're glad that wasn't the case here.

More on the Flicker Film Festival: Austin

Madmen, UFOs, and fairy tale princesses will converge on the big screen at the 28th Flicker Film Festival.  The Alamo Drafthouse Downtown, always a gracious host, will serve up this smorgasbord of food and flicks on Thursday, November 9th. The festivities will kick off at 7 p.m. and tickets are only $5.

Local filmmakers will be featured alongside national and international shorts that demonstrate the subtle genius that can only be captured on film. "Cold?" by Norwood Cheek, a Flicker LA regular, and Austin based Lion & Leon Production's "Unidentified Flying Object" will be included in this evening's collection of short films that promises to have something for everyone. After enlightening and entertaining the audience of Flicker 27 with their critical film insights on the eternal debate over the superiority of cop dog to sport dog movies, the DragonSquad will return to host another Flicker. This Austin-based improv troupe, composed of members of Ed 32 and the Polite Society, will continue to plumb the depths of cinematic criticism as only they can.

And because Flicker is always looking for ways to give back to its audience, gift certificates to Austin Java, Waterloo Records, Blazer Tag, and many more beloved Austin establishments will be raffled off. At the end of the evening, the audience has the opportunity to vote for their favorite films of the night. The winner will be added to a "Best of Flicker" compilation that will be exhibited at the end of the year.
